Former Ghana Football Association (GFA) Communications Director, Ibrahim Sannie Daara, has urged for a more inclusive player selection process for the Black Stars in order to reduce complacency and foster healthy competition within the team.

Ghana's underwhelming performances in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 qualifiers, which have put their qualification hopes in jeopardy, have raised concerns.

Daara believes that some players have become too comfortable in their positions, which he sees as detrimental to the team's overall performance.

"A lot of players feel too comfortable, and it affects performances," Daara told GHOne TV.

"Young players haven't struggled to get in, making them complacent."

To address this issue, Daara suggests broadening the pool of players being considered for selection, including those who might be on the periphery or playing outside the top leagues.

He pointed to players like Bernard Terkpetey as potential candidates to increase competition.

"Changing the strategy will bring healthy competition and improve results," Daara added.

The Black Stars are set to face Angola on November 15 and Niger on November 18, 2024, at the Accra Sports Stadium, with their qualification hopes riding on these crucial matches.
