There have been widespread reports in the media that Kumasi Asante Kotoko have parted ways with their Norwegian trainer Kjetil Zachariasen.

Zachariasen has been under intense pressure following the team's dismal form and elimination to Ivorian side San Pedro Fc.

Following the defeat and elimination the coach went AWOL in Ivory Coast after he accused management of Asante Kotoko of telling him they could not guarantee his future should he return home to Kumasi.

However the club's management member Nana Gyambibi has denied the reports insisting they are unaware of the reports suggesting that the coach has been fired.

"My brother the report is not true. I don't know where is report is coming from so please ignore what is going round in the media about the status of our coach," Gyambibi, who is also the special assistant to the board chairman of the club, told Ghanasoccernet.com.

There has been simmering tension since the team's second consecutive elimination from Caf's Inter Club competition's after they were kicked out of the Champions league.

Zachariasen joined Asante Kotoko some four months ago penning a two year deal after C.K Akunnor was sacked despite winning the NC special competition.
