AshantiGold SC midfielder, Eric Esso says that he is willing and ready to play football anywhere abroad so long as it will better his life.

The Ghana Premier League like most sectors in Ghana is experiencing a mass exodus or brain drain with players in the league paid peanuts whiles they wallow in misery and abject poverty.

With the deteriorating Ghanaian economy and low wages on offer where almost every worker wants to jump ship out of the seemingly sinking ship, the midfielder is no different.

He says that he is even ready to go to war thorn Ukraine, Iraq, and the most obscured countries in the world in search of greener pastures.

The midfielder hopes to follow in the footsteps of his brother Joseph Esso who now plies his trade for MC Algiers after stints with Ebusua Dwarfs, Hearts and DreamsFC

Esso says he does not care about the quality of the league he will be playing in or the environment as his gaze is deeply fixed on what pays the bills money.

He made this known in an interview with Angel TV in Accra where he revealed that is his ambition.

“At the moment, even if it’s Ukraine or Iraq, I will gladly play there. It’s every player’s dream to play abroad to better their lives," he said.

“And I have that in mind now. That is my ambition," he added.

The player's ambition will have to wait at least for the next 24 months as he was implicated in the match-fixing allegation involving his team and Ashgold and must work to clear his name before his dream sojourn can become a reality.

Ashgold has been demoted to Division Two after being found culpable of match-fixing with Inter Allies in the 2019/2020 season.
