Black Stars coach C.K Aknonnor has brushed aside suggestions that players are imposed on him during call ups by the powers that be at the Football Association.

In the run up to the last two AFCON qualifying matches against South Africa and Sao Tome and Principe, there were reports that some players were smuggled into C.K Akonnor's roster of invited players.

Although the Ghana FA denied those reports there was clearly some confusion with the selection for those two matches.

Speaking during a press conference on Wednesday, the coach denied those assertions claiming he is his own man and in charge of call ups.

He however added that he does not work in isolation as there are assistants and other support staff he works with.

“I’m my own man. I’m the coach and I’m in charge of the call ups," he said.

"Football is not up to one man. I have both my assistant and my video analyst who make sure we have players who can fit into what we want to do.

“Football is not done in isolation. Even journalists can make suggestions about players, but it is my choice to pick or not,” he said.

Ghana will face Morocco in Rabat on June 8 and then Côte d’Ivoire four days later in Cape Coast.
