Member of Parliament for Abetifi and former Minister for Food and Agriculture, Dr. Bryan Acheampong, has issued a strong call for unity within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as the party gears up for the 2028 general elections.

Speaking at the NPP Constituency Chairmen Caucus Conference on Saturday, June 21, in Kumasi, Dr. Acheampong delivered a speech, making clear his ambitions for the party’s leadership.

“I’m not here to test the waters. I’m here for power,” he stated.

Dr. Acheampong reflected on his political journey, from grassroots mobilisation to his service in Parliament and Cabinet.

He explained that his experience had equipped him to guide the party through a new chapter.

“This is not just about Bryan. It’s about building strength together as a party.”

Although the official flagbearer race is scheduled for January 31, 2026, Saturday’s event marked a significant moment  signaling Dr. Acheampong’s confident entry into the leadership race with unity and victory in 2028 as his central message.

Other declared contenders for the NPP flagbearer position include former Education Minister and MP for Bosomtwe, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, and former Assin Central MP, Kennedy Agyapong.
