Board Member of Accra Hearts of Oak, Alhaji Braimah Akambi has questioned why players of Accra Hearts of Oak rarely get national team call ups.

He says he was taken aback when the recent call ups for the Black Stars and the Black Meteors was announced last week.

Accra Hearts of Oak despite challenging for the league title did not have any player in the Black Stars and none too in the Black Meteors but after a lot of public outcry Ibrahim Salifu was included in the U-23 squad together with Kotoko's Ibrahim Moro.

Speaking in an interview with Fox FM from South Africa, Akambi lamented how Hearts are always denied call ups when it comes to the national team.

"I was shocked when I saw the call ups I was in South Africa and was like wow so we do not have any proper player at Hearts of Oak."

"It is strange how our players are constantly overlooked during national team call ups.

But I'm happy they rectified the error and called Di Maria...The player is a gem at Hearts of Oak and we are lucky to have him." he added.
