Black Stars striker Inaki Williams played a pivotal role in Athletic Club’s 2-0 victory over Dutch side AZ Alkmaar in their 2024/25 UEFA Europa League match at the Estadio San Mamés.

Williams, who started the match and completed the full 90 minutes, delivered a solid performance, helping the Rojiblancos claim their first win of the tournament.

The game proved challenging for Athletic Club, with the breakthrough only coming in the 72nd minute when Williams found the back of the net after a well-timed assist from his younger brother, Nico Williams.

This goal gave Athletic Club the much-needed lead.

Five minutes before the final whistle, Oihan Sancet added a second goal, sealing a 2-0 win and boosting the team's confidence in the competition.

Inaki Williams' goal marked his second of the season, and he now boasts six goal involvements in nine matches across all competitions, with two goals and four assists to his name.

His form has been crucial for Athletic Club, and he will aim to continue his impressive run in the upcoming matches.

Athletic Club now has four points from their first two Europa League matches and will prepare to host Czech giants Slavia Praha in the next round of the competition.
