There was no Kudus Mohammed for Ajax as they were beaten for the first time in the Dutch Eredivisie this season by Groningen.

Ajax succumbed to a one nil defeat at the Euroborg Stadium as there was no place for the injured Kudus Mohammed.

The Dutch giants had won all their three matches going into the game but shockingly lost to a lone goal that was scored by Remco Balk in the 49th minute.

Ghana has been dealt a major blow as young talented midfielder Kudus Mohammed will miss out of the double friendly matches to be played next week against Mali and Qatar in Turkey.

"Although we have also seen Mohammed Kudus at work in his position. However, he dropped out during training and is now not fit for competition”, Coach of Ajax Erik Ten Hag has revealed at his press conference on Friday.

The Ghanaian midfielder sustained an injury on Thursday while training with his teammates and missed Ajax's league loss at Groningen.

His exclusion from the Ajax team on Sunday against Groningen makes the midfielder a major doubt for the friendly against Mali on Fridat and 2022 World Cup host Qatar three days later.
