Belgian club Anderlecht will have to play the rest of the season without influential Ghanaian midfielder Majeed Ashimeru due to injury.

He has been out of action for a while and only played for Anderlecht last week in their Belgium Cup defeat to Gent on penalties.

Ashimeru was not fit but was rushed to play the game and has seemingly exacerbated the injury that kept him out of action for a while.

Anderlecht coach Vincent Kompany has confirmed the Ghana international may not be able to play again for his side for the remainder of the season.

"I can already tell you that he will not be there and that we will even see if he is able to play during the Playoffs", Vincent Kompany gave an update on the injury of the Ghanaian ahead of the game against Club Brugge

"It's not an injury that will last in the long term. But in the short term, I don't know if he can perform well in the coming weeks."

Majeed Ashimeru has made 31 appearances for Anderlecht this season, scoring three goals and three assists.
