Ghana football has been in the doldrums over the last few months with the airing of the number 12 video by investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas.

Football has been on its knees with no proper footballing activities or competitions in place but that may soon be about to change as members of the football fraternity will on the 25th October 2019 go to the polls to elect the next set of persons who will oversee the affairs of the beautiful game in the country.

Former captain of the senior national team the Black Stars and the current welfare officer of the team, Stephen Appiah has urged those aspiring for the GFA Presidential hot-seat to prioritize improving various football infrastructure and facilities in the country.

Tornado as he is affectionately called in an interview with Accra based Citi fm urged the prospective candidates to invest heavily in football infrastructure.

“I think they have to invest [in facilities]. If you have England try to build thousand new pitches despite all the facilities they already have, that means they know what football is giving them.

“We know what football has done for this country and yet, there’s no enough investment in facilities.

“I quite remember when I was playing in Italy, the Europeans didn’t know how to pronounce Ghana; they use to refer to it as Guyana. But after the 2006 world cup, everyone now knows the country Ghana,” Appiah said.

Private legal practitioner Amanda Clinton will have to do battle with experienced football people like former vice presidents of the GFA,  Messrs George Afriyie,Fred Pappoe, Nana Yaw Amponsah, Kurt Okraku,Wilfred Osei Palmer and George Ankomah Mensah Esq for the GFA top job on 25th October 2019.
