Query: Hi, I am 23 years old and I like a guy who studies in my college. We chat almost entire day and he regularly drops me hints that imply he likes me a lot. I have a big crush on him but the problem is it has been a month and he has not asked me out. I am little afraid of being upfront and asking him to come on a date with me. What if he starts bragging about it in his friend circle? Or, what if he says no and friend zones me? How should I approach this situation? Shall I wait for him to make a move or should I take charge of this situation? - By Anonymous Response by Ms. Anuja Shah: Thank you for writing to us. I can understand your hesitation in approaching this guy since you two are studying in the same college.
Having crush and getting attracted towards someone is normal in this age but I am glad you are a thoughtful adult who would like to weigh the consequences of your action.
I feel it would be early to ask him out, and it could also be possible that he is also feeling shy in asking you out. I would suggest you take some time and instead ask him if he has spoken about you to his friends. Do you both speak on the phone? If not, you can initiate that and see if he is hesitant about it. If he is hesitant, then try to know the reason behind it. Does he answer your call with his friends around? What does he tell them? Ask him indirect questions on what his hints mean? Does he behave like this with other female friends too?
Assess what these hints mean to him. The next best step would be to plan a coffee meeting along with a few friends. For instance, you can tell him you are meeting your friends for coffee and he can come there with his friends as well.

I hope I have been able to give you some direction in how to move ahead while being equally cautious.
