Minister for Youth and Sports, Isaac Kwame Asiamah, has urged Ghana Football Association president Kurt Okraku and his executive council to be innovative in order to win back the love of football fans.

Speaking at a meeting with the GFA, Asiamah tasked the association with reviving the game on the domestic front, as well as improving the national teams.

The Kurt Okraku administration upon assumption of office has already launched the #BringBackTheLove campaign, aimed at rekindling the interest Ghanaians have for the game, a move the minister has hailed.

"Your election places huge responsibilities on you to rebrand Ghanaian football, and as you say, ignite passion," he told the GFA delegation that paid him a courtesy call.

"So far, what I have seen gives me an indication of a positive future," the minister added.

The Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association had paid a courtesy call on the Minister at his office in Accra on Tuesday.

The meeting was to formally introduce the newly-elected GFA Executive Council to the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Minister.

The minister advised the federation to strive not to repeat recent mistakes that have plunged the country's football into crisis, with the 2017/18 season being canceled amid allegations of corruption and breaches of FIFA's code of conduct.

Okraku and the executive council were elected during the FA's extraordinary congress in Accra last month.

The new administration will serve for the next four years.

Mr. Okraku lauded the Minister for his personal commitment to the development of football in Ghana, and assured him of the GFA's continuous engagements with stakeholders, including the Ministry of Sports.

On the domestic league, the GFA President revealed to the Ministry the GFA's innovations aimed at improving domestic competitions such new refereeing strategies, a fully functional technical department and the establishment of a competitions department which will be innovative in its approach, among others.
