Ghanaian midfielder in enjoying a very good time with his Turkish Super Lig side Sivasspor as they have been impressive the last three months with an unbeaten streak of 12 matches.

During that spell they have recorded seven wins, five draws in the Turkish Super Lig.

The Ghanaian midfielder has been an integral piece of the Sivasspor upward trajectory as they have rocketed from 14th on the league table to 8th position on the league table.

Cofie has been an ever present in the Sivasspor set up since returning from an injury against Fatih Karagumruk.

The former Genoa midfielder has been sharing his thoughts on his side's amazing run and what has been ticking for them.

You've been a 12 game unbeaten run in the last three months. What would you say has accounted for your resurgence?

"I think it’s as a result of sheer hardwork, team unity, desire to climb the league ladder as well as a bit of luck in all. Still working and hoping to keep this form till the end of the season."

Last Friday you came back from two goals down to defeat Genclerbirligi 3-2 . Kindly walk us through the emotions of that match?

It was a difficult start for us in that game. Playing a relegation team is always difficult especially when the season is nearing completion. Went down 2-0 in the 1st half. But at half time, we got ourselves together, fighting for every ball and got the draw within regulation time. Luckily for us an own goal in the injury time gave us the victory. We were all happy after the game"

You've been an influential member of the squad this season, making 22 appearances so far. How will you describe your personal performance this campaign?

"Am happy about my performances and playing time lately! Working hard however to finish the season on a high note with my teammates. I believe there is always room for improvement as an individual and a club"

What is abundantly clear about Sivasspor is the ability score goals. As a defensive midfielder, what does that add to your game?

"I bring equilibrium as a defensive midfielder  which gives the team a solid defensive shield thereby freeing other players to go forward and score goals. Me getting on the score sheet will be a big plus for me but my 1st duty is to prevent other team from scoring against us and am happy to be interpreting that role very well."

Would you attribute Sivasspor's earlier struggles in the Super Lig, to your participation in the Europa league?

"No I don’t believe the Europa league was a problem to our slow start to the season. Europa league is a unique opportunity to play against some great teams in Europe so it was rather a big motivation for us to take part in that competition. Yes it took some energies off us but I think it’s normal."

" I think the outbreak of the Covid cases in our camp contributed a great deal to our slow start to the season since week in and week out we were shy of players as a result of positive Covid cases. It’s however in the past now and we fighting and working hard to finish in a better position in the league."

You're 8th on the league table with about 7 matches to go. Do you fancy making it into the top four?

"Yes it’s left with few matches to finish the season! Top four finish will be very difficult even though it’s not impossible looking at the way we playing now. The fifth place is more feasible to clock looking at the difference in points now. We have to continue winning our games and hoping that other teams drop points along the line. Together we can do everything by the grace of God"
