Mr Ellis Quashigah of E&J Boxing Promotions, a boxing promoter and solicitor for former world champion, Isaac Dogboe, believes the super bantamweight contender should move up in weight immediately after his rematch with Emanuel Navarrete.

He contended that the arduous task of making the required weight in the super bantamweight division caused problems for Dogboe, leading to his defeat to Navarrete on December 8 last year.

“He struggled to make the weight and in the end we had to resort to unorthodox means, including taking some medication to make the weight, which hurt him in the ring,” Mr Quashigah disclosed in an exclusive interview with the Graphic Sports.

He suggested that Dogboe must move to the featherweight division to sustain his career and win world titles.

“Dogboe’s career is not over with the loss of his title. The young Ghanaian boxer will win the world title again.”

Meanwhile, Mr Quashigah has advised the new IBF lightweight world champion, Richard Oblitey Commey, to hasten slowly in his unification bout against world champion, Vasiliy Lomachenko.

He maintained that the dreaded Ukrainian, who holds the WBO and WBA lightweight titles could be a mouthful for the Ghanaian if he rushes into a unification fight. Instead, he wants Commey to defend his title a few times and consolidate himself in the division before taking on Lomachenko.

“That guy [Lomachenko] is roaring like a lion and is ready to pounce on everyone. I suggest he takes his time and studies him very well,” he cautioned.
