Vice President of the Ghana Football Association, Mark Addo says that the Black Stars have been placed in a tricky group in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier.

Ghana has been placed in group E alongside Angola, Madagascar and Central African Republic for a place at the biennial tournament.

The Black Stars of Ghana have in the last few weeks endured a topsy turvy spell as they failed miserably at the 2021 AFCON in Cameroon.

Ghana finished bottom of a group containing Morocco, Gabon and Comoros Island as they exited at the group stages of the tournament without a win.

But they put that aside as they defeated Nigeria in a two legged tie to clinch a ticket at the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup.

“We are not underrating any side in our group but I am confident the team will qualify for the tournament,” he said on Asempa FM.

“It is a tricky group but we will ensure we make it Ivory Coast and put up a better performance,” he added.

In all, 12 groups consisting of four teams each will be competing against each other home and away with the top two sides set to qualify for AFCON 2023 in Ivory Coast.
