It has always been a great feeling playing for Ghana, defender Nicolas Opoku has said after scoring his first goal in Black Stars jersey.

The Amiens stalwart headed the Black Stars into the lead in the 3-1 victory against São Tomé and Principe in the final 2021 AFCON qualifier played at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday.

He was given a starting role and he capped it off with a stupendous goal after connecting from a corner from Kudus.

The former Berekum Chelsea defender who has been a mainstay in the Black Stars could not hide his joy after his debut goal.

The 23-year-old has played for the Ghana national teams at all levels.

Opoku who joined French club, Amiens on loan from Italian side Udinese, took to Twitter to express his joy.

Following a good outing with the Tunisian side, he was snapped up by Italian club, Udinese in 2018.

After struggling to command a regular shirt at the Italian side, he was sent on loan to French club Amiens where he has enjoyed much playing time.

Barring any unforeseen circumstances, the former Corners Babies defender will be key for coach Charles Akonnor’s side at the 2021 AFCON in Cameroon.
