Rumours had been swirling that Kumasi Asante Kotoko top marksman Kwame Opoku wants to terminate his contract with the club wit immediate effect.

According to reports in the local media Kwame Opoku was intent on abrogating his contract with Kotoko in the hope of securing a move abroad.

This has been rubbished by the player's representative Leslie Kuuku Bartels as he says its untrue and they are mere fabrications.

Kwame Opoku has become a hot cake for Asante Kotoko this season scoring seven goals in the local league and scoring the only goal in the 2-1 defeat against ES Setif in the first leg of the CAF Champions League knock out game.

His agent has confirmed there are a lot of foreign clubs interested in poaching the prolific striker away from the club but that solely lies in the bossom of his club Asante Kotoko if they decide to cash in on the goal monger.

''It's not true we have written to Kotoko asking for termination of contract,'' Bartels was left blowing fuse in an interview with Kumasi-based Oyerepa FM

''Though there has been offers for Kwame Opoku but they (Kotoko) have the right to sell or not. I am surprised at hearing news of the player wanting to leave the club.''

He added: ''He (Kwame Opoku) has a three-year contract with Kotoko and he is happy at the club. To the best of my knowledge whatever the club has to do for him, they have.''

The impressive striker joined the porcupine warriors from lower tier side Nkoranza Warriors before the start of the 2020/2021 Ghana Premier League season and has shone for the club.

He has been handed a Black Stars call up for the 2021 AFCON qualifier against South Africa and has a combined goal tally of 11 goals across all competitions.
