Legendary former Hearts of Oak striker Ishmael Addo has bemoaned the current state of his former club, especially in African interclub competitions.

The phobians suffered a humiliating 3-0 defeat at the hands of Malian side AS Real Bamako in the first leg of the CAF Confederations Cup.

Hearts of  Oak like many other Ghanaian clubs have in recent times endured a dreadful run in African interclub competitions.

The Phobians in the last three away games played in the CAF inter-club competitions have failed to record a win, conceding 13 goals in the process.

Speaking to Joy Sports, Ishmael Addo has opened up on the recent woes of his former club.

According to him, it has become painful to watch Hearts of Oak competing in Africa.

"It's painful to watch Hearts of Oak play in Africa these days,” Ishmael Addo said.

The rainbow club will be seeking an unlikely redemption on Sunday 16th October when the two sides face each  other.
