Belgium born Ghanaian International Jeremy Doku has been handed a start by the coach of Belgium, Roberto Martinez in their Euro Nations League game against Iceland.

The 19 year old born in Belgium to Ghanaian parents has been courted by Ghana for a while with new Black Stars coach, C.K Akonnor holding talks with the player in Belgium when he was handed the Ghana job.

Doku who is highly rated at Andrelecht has been given his first cup for Belgium meaning any faint hope of playing for Ghana is dead now.

The Belgium born Ghanaian had a stellar breakthrough season with giants Anderlecht in the Jupiler Pro League.

Doku netted four goals and made three assist before the league was cancelled.

His performances this season hasn't gone unnoticed with Belgium coach Roberto Martinez handing the 18-year old a shot at the national team with the Euro league game against Iceland.

Ghana lost out on the 18-year-old to the Red Devils after making a competitive senior appearance on Saturday

The winger came on as an 88th-minute substitute in the European Nations League clash with Denmark rendering the teenager cap-tied.

Currently, he is not eligible to represent Ghana unless Fifa changes their rules in future.
