The entire Ablekuma South constituency went gay yesterday when the parliamentary candidate of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Jerry Ahmed Shaib decided to embark on a health walk.

Dubbed the 'Kalyppo Victory Walk', it saw many constituents in attendance sipping their now favourite Kalyppo fruit juice.

At 6am, people had begun converging at Chorkor, the starting point.

By 7am, the train of red, white and blue wearing party faithful had started moving; walking through the principal streets of Chorkor, Mamprobi and Korle Gonno amidst singing and dancing alongside blurring music from mounted sound system in a truck.

Everywhere they passed, people came out of their homes to cheer the crowd on doing the now famous 'change' sign, with the numbers swelling by the minute.

There was free sharing of Kalyppo fruit juice at the beginning of the walk and at the end of it.

After a long day's walk throughout the constituency, the walk finally came to an end at which former Mayor of Accra, Stanley Nii Adjiri Blankson and the parliamentary candidate took turns to address the charged crowd.

Overwhelmed by the numbers that turned up for the event, Jerry Shaib thanked each and every one of the participants for their time and energy.

From what he saw, the candidate said he was optimistic of victory come Wednesday, December 7, 2016 when the country heads to the polls to elect parliamentarians and a president.

Jerry, who has suddenly won the hearts of many in the constituency, said he was unfazed by the freebies being shared by his main contender, Alfred Oko Vanderpuije, the Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE) of Accra.

For him, he was more concerned about helping his constituents to improve their living conditions and not to take undue advantage of them.

On his part, former Mayor of Accra, Adjiri Blankson urged the rank and file of the party to rally around the flag of the NPP to secure the victory they so desire while asking them not to pay heed to those working against the party.

For him, such persons do not have the party and the nation at heart hence their resort to 'pull him down' attitude.

He thus urged Ghanaians to help vote against President Mahama and his incompetent National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration.
