As former President Mahama marked his 60th birthday last week Thursday, he has been advised by the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party to stop telling petty lies.

Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako posited that it was unbefitting of Mr. John Mahama to still hold firmly to the practice of politics of deceit as he reaches the new age God has blessed him with.

The NPP chairman popularly known as Chairman Wontumi explained that it would be proper for former President Mahama to turn over a new leaf in his political career.

He was however quick to add that it would be difficult for former President Mahama to be as clean and truthful as President Nana Akufo-Addo.

“JM is now 60, it is time for him to stop telling lies. It won’t help him; he has done it in the past and it never worked for him so he must come clean now. I don’t really believe his new age would change him in addressing issues truthfully”, Chairman Wontumi said.

In pointing out some of the “deceit” being peddled by the former president as he seeks to be elected as Flagbearer of the NDC, Chairman Wontumi started that it was unfair for him (Mahama) to ever say that the hardship that Ghanaians are going through under the Akufo-Addo government is beyond imagination.

He added that comparing the economy Mr. John Mahama left behind, it was “disgraceful “ for him to accuse President Akufo-Addo of not performing to expectations.

“Mahama failed as President and he must think about as he hit 60 years. The lies made him fail and he should be thankful to God his successor fears God and speaks the truth”, Chairman Wontumi said.
