Dreams FC forward, John Antwi, is filled with nostalgia as he prepares to return to Egypt for the CAF Confederation Cup encounter against Zamalek, reflecting on his illustrious career in the North African country.

Antwi, a seasoned veteran, enjoyed a remarkable stint in Egypt, where he left an indelible mark by scoring 102 goals while representing top clubs such as Al Ahly, Ismailly, Pyramids FC, and Misr El-Makasa over nearly a decade.

Recalling his fond memories, Antwi expressed his excitement about facing Zamalek once again, highlighting the intensity and challenges associated with matches between the two Egyptian giants.

"I had a very good time in Egypt. Matches between Al Ahly and Zamalek are always difficult. I played against Zamalek during my time with Al Ahly and other teams, and I scored against them too. So, going back to Egypt to play Zamalek is something that delights me," Antwi shared in an interview with TV3.

Having returned to Ghana in 2023 to join Premier League side Dreams FC, Antwi has been instrumental in their journey in the CAF Confederation Cup, propelling the club to the semifinals in their inaugural participation.

Reflecting on Dreams FC's impressive campaign, Antwi praised the team's resilience and determination, considering their status as a smaller club competing in multiple competitions simultaneously.

“This campaign has been very good looking at where we are coming from. A small club playing three competitions at the same time, I mean we are in the FA Cup quarterfinals and also in the Confederations Cup. God being so good, we are in the semifinal and also in the Ghana league," Antwi remarked.

As Dreams FC continues to defy expectations and make strides in various competitions, Antwi believes that their success this season is a testament to the dedication and hard work of the entire team, despite their relative inexperience.

“I will say this season has been good for the lads looking at how inexperienced they are, so coming this far, I think is very good for the club,” Antwi concluded, expressing optimism about their prospects moving forward.
