Opposition candidate and flag bearer of the National Democratic Congress(NDC), John Mahama has yet again made another mouth watering promise to football clubs if he is to win power in the 7th December General Elections.

He says his government will fund Ghanaian clubs who participate in African inter club competitions.

During the launch of their manifesto dubbed the 'people's manifesto' somewhere this month, six key points were highlighted for Sports development among them includes the payment of salaries of sportsmen and women.

He says they will establish a sports development fund where players of the Ghana Premier League will be paid a minimum of GHC1,500 a month.

Speaking at the second manifesto launch held on Tuesday at the Town Hall Meeting at KNUST, he revealed the will foot bills for clubs who play in Africa.

"My government will put in a seed fund and every company that will put in money, we’ll be treated as an expense for them."

"They can deduct it from their tax as we're keen to develop the sports fund so that it’ll help our sports men and women to be paid well."

"It’s so disheartening when sometimes our clubs don’t have money to pay for their trips to Africa. The Sports Development Fund will help cut off that stress so that they can bring trophies back to Ghana," Mahama said.
