Black Stars striker Jordan Ayew scored Ghana's only goal against Japan in the  4-1 humiliation against the Asian giants in the Kirin Cup opener.

With the goal, the often goal shy striker has chalked an important milestone as he has now leveled the goals scored  by his father Abedi Ayew Pele.

He has been the subject of vile attacks from a cross section of Ghanaian because he rarely scores for the country despite being a striker and last scored for Ghana in March 2021.

The legendary Abedi Pele scored 19 goals from midfield in 73 matches during his illustrious playing career for Ghana whiles his son Jordan needed 80 games to equal his father's record.

Jordan Ayew made his Ghana debut in 2010 and scored his 19th goal in the 4-1 defeat against  Japan.

He picked up a loose ball on the edge of the 18 yard box and fiercely struck a shot to equalize for Ghana in the first half before Ghana later conceded three goals to lose 4-1.

Andre Ayew however has more goals when you even combined the goal tallies of his father Abedi Ayew and Jordan Ayew.

Jordan Ayew with his goal is now eight in the top ten all time top scorers far away from record scorer Asamoah Gyan who has 51 goals.
