Crystal Palace striker Jordan Ayew on Saturday grabbed the prestigious Sports Writers Association of Ghana Male Footballer of the Year Award for the year 2019.

The 27- year- old was in contention with teams mates Thomas Partey and Mubarak Wakaso, but at an event held at Alisa Hotel in Accra, it was he coveted gong.

For the 2019/20 season, he scored nine goals in the English Premier League to overtake ex-Ghana star Tony Yeboah.

His award was presented to him by Ghana Football Association Kurt Okraku at the Black Stars camp base in Antalya, Turkey ahead of Monday's friendly against Qatar.

Ayew's sensational 90th-minute winner where he danced through the Hammers defence on the edge of the box and then brilliantly beat goalkeeper Roberto with a calm chip to claim the three points for Palace made him an absolute hero.

He went on to be named Crystal Palace's Player of the Year award and Players’ Player of the Year.
