Ghanaian international Jordan Ayew played his first Premier League game for Crystal Palace in their 2-0 defeat to Southampton.

The 26 years old was handed a starting in the absence of injured Wilfred Zaha but lasted till the 76th minute.

Danny Ings gave Southampton the lead after just two minutes into the second half.

Substitute Charlie Austin, had the chance to double the lead on 65 minutes but his weak penalty - after Aaron Wan-Bissaka's handball - was saved by Wayne Hennessey.

Hojbjerg, however added the second on the break in stoppage time after the visitors had to soak up concerted pressure in the closing stages.
