Ghanaian footballer Joseph Painstil encountered racial abuse during the Major League Soccer (MLS) derby between Los Angeles FC and Los Angeles FC.

The 26-year-old was subjected to racist remarks on social media following LA Galaxy's 2-1 defeat to their main rivals, LA FC.

Los Angeles FC swiftly reported the incident to the MLS, prompting investigations to identify the perpetrators.

The club has pledged its unwavering support to Painstil and is prepared to provide him with the necessary assistance to continue his career in the United States.

In a statement on social media, LA Galaxy condemned the racist abuse directed at Painstil and expressed solidarity with him and anyone else who has experienced similar discrimination.

"LA Galaxy forward Joseph Painstil was the victim of a racist social media incident following Saturday's match against LA FC. The club stands with Joseph and anyone who has suffered racist abuse through social media and anywhere else," wrote LA Galaxy in a statement on social media.

The club promptly reported the incident to the MLS and is collaborating closely with the league to ensure Painstil receives adequate resources and support during this challenging time.

"The incident was immediately reported to the Major League Soccer. We are working with the MLS to ensure Joseph has all the resources and support he needs at this time.

"There is no place for racism in our community, in our league or anywhere else in society."

They emphasized their commitment to eradicating racism from their community, league, and society at large.

Painstil, who joined LA Galaxy in February as a Designated Player after departing Belgian giants KRC Genk, has garnered widespread support following the incident.
