Ghanaian winger Joseph Painstil has lost his place in the Genk team after starting the season in good form.

The winger started the first few matches for his club in the early stages of the season but seem to have lost his place as the season goes on.

With the recovery of Theo Bongonda from injury it appears coach Felice Mazzu is inclined to use him more than Joseph Paintsil at least for now.

The 21 year old was not even in the squad for Jupiler Pro league matches against Mouscron and Standard Leige.

Paintsil was not named in the Uefa Champions league squad that was thoroughly beaten 4-1 by Liverpool last night and will have to do more to convince his coach that he is worthy of selection at the training grounds.

He has so far this season played 8 games in the Jupiler Pro league scoring a goal while providing a solitary assist.

Painstil has played just a minute in the Uefa Champions league so far this season coming on as a substitute against Napoli.
