Joseph Paintsil the only bright spot as Genk crush out of Champions League
13th December 2019
Belgian Champions KRC Genk will want to forget their disastrous campaign in the Champions League soon.
Having garnered just a point after six round of football matches and conceding 20 goals while scoring a paltry 5 it makes grim looking for the Belgian Champions.
Their poor form in Europe's elite competition was highlighted on Tuesday with a 4-0 loss in Napoli in their last game.
Many Genk players hoped that the champion will be a springboard to much greater turns but it was only a false dawn .
Players for Genk on the night were poor but the only bright spot was Ghanaian winger Joseph Paintsil who gave a very good account of himself.
"Only Joseph Paintsil showed a positive note, with actions like we didn't see them this season with the Belgian champion, but that is not enough to make a sufficient impression as the Italian newspaper wrote his name wrongly. The Gazzetta dello Sport had it about 'Paintsic ".
"His performance already shows what people at Genk have known for a long time: that you have to give a newcomer time to adjust and cannot judge after six months or a year. It makes Genk hope that next season, if everyone has found their place and is fully established, has a better team again than this year. "
