The Ministry  of Communications and Digitalization on Friday, 16th April, 2021 took over an office space at Kanda in Accra from K-NET for the Central Digital Transmission Company Limited (CDTCL).

The sector Minister Mrs Ursula Owusu Ekuful cut the ribbon to officially commission the new facility, which forms parts of government's agenda to scale up its digitisation drive.

Speaking at the brief handing over ceremony, Mrs Ekuful touted the country's performance in the digitization process.

"This is another step to the migration from analogue to digital".
Minister explained that the CDTCL is a Ghanaian entity which will operate independently," she said.

"The Digital Migration policy approved by cabinet mandates the country to set up a company to manage the platform".

Hon. Mrs Owusu-Ekuful indicated that currently analogue and digital signals were running simultaneously, adding, "all that was left to be done now was to switch off the analogue transmissions which will be done soon".
She therefore urged radio and television companies to prepare to pay for their own digital transmission when the migration is fully completed.
" Ghana is one of the few African Countries that have established companies for digital transmission".
She stated that the Communications and Digitalization Ministry will no longer handle the Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) but instead find a replacement company to work with.

“As you’re aware, the Ministry of Communication and Digitalization will not be managing the Digital Terrestrial Television platform for transmitting your content to the country," she said.

"The Digital Migration policy that has been approved by Cabinet mandates that we set up a company to come and manage this on our joint behalf, and we are in the process of identifying the personnel who will do it.”

In attendance were the Deputy Minister designate, Hon. Ama Pomaa Boateng, the Chief Director, Mrs Magdalene Apenteng, and the Director PPMBE, Mrs Veronica Sackey.

General manager, Human Resources of K-NET, Oscar Nchor, lauded the Communications and Digitalisation Minister for her support towards Ghana's digital agenda.

The Central Digital Transmission Company Limited is a Ghanaian Local Company to manage the DTT Network platform in accordance with the National Roadmap.
K-NET, a 100 percent Ghanaian owned company built in 1996, is the entity that built Ghana's digital platform.
