Sey Mubarak, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of Karela United, has refuted claims that the club owes its players nine months' salary.
In an interview with Asempa FM, Mubarak clarified that the actual arrears amount to three months.
“The story making waves in the media is coming from players the club has decided to move on from and did not register," Mubarak stated.
He emphasized that the reports of the club owing players for 5 to 9 months are inaccurate.
Mubarak explained that there are no salary arrears from the start of the season until June.
The outstanding payments are from the end of the season until now, totaling approximately three months of salary and some bonuses.
Karela United, which was sold to former Minority Leader Haruna Iddrisu last season, has now relocated to Tamale.
The team is set to begin their Ghana Premier League season this Sunday with a match against Asante Kotoko at the Naa Sheriga Sports Complex in Nalerigu.
