Karela United has bolstered their bid to avoid relegation from the Ghana Premier League with a crucial 1-0 triumph over Nations FC at home on Saturday.

Giyas Ibrahim's second-half penalty proved decisive at the Naa Sheriga Sports Complex, securing three precious points for United and widening the gap between them and the relegation-threatened teams.

Despite a spirited effort from the visitors, it was Karela United who seized the opportunity from the penalty spot in the 50th minute, courtesy of Giyas Ibrahim.

While Karela United remains rooted at the bottom of the table, this victory elevates them six points clear of the relegation zone, positioning them just above Hearts of Oak and level with Asante Kotoko.

This triumph marks Karela United's second consecutive win in the Ghana Premier League, following their impressive 2-1 victory against Aduana Stars last weekend.

On the other hand, Nations FC's aspirations for the Premier League title have suffered a significant setback with this defeat, leaving them trailing leaders FC Samartex 1996 by a daunting 10-point margin.
