Medics at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital have begun running medical tests on a 7 year old boy who has developed puffy blisters all over his body after taking some medications.

The boy was first sent to the Sefwi Akontombrah government hospital in the Western Region after taking ill.

He was later referred to the Asafo Government Hospital in the same region after he begun developing some strange rushes suspected to be side effects of an anti – malarial drug.

The boy whose body has virtually been taken over by the blisters has now been admitted to the paediatric unit of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital where he is receiving treatment.

Medics are suspecting a case of a Steven Johnson Syndrome which affects people whose bodies trigger allergic reactions to medications containing sulphur.

The father of the boy, Emmanuel Adu told Ultimate News’ Ivan Heathcote – Fumador medical tests are yet to determine which of the drugs caused the condition.
