The Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital has responded to concerns of aggrieved staff of the theater and surgical unit of the hospital.
Staff of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital's (KATH) surgery department have been trending with the hash tag #FixTheTheatreNow.
The aggrieved staff made up of nurses, doctors, anesthetics and other support staff who work at the main theater have chastised the hospital about the poor working conditions they have to endure.
They have among other things complained about the lack of water heater at the facility, no and faulty air conditioners, poor and decaying furniture at the facility and the old obsolete anesthetics machine which needs changing and the refurbishment of the whole facility which is falling off.
In an eight point release dated 12th May,2021 signed by the head of Surgery Department-KATH, Dr Joseph Oppong, enumerated the various steps that are being taking by the hospital address their concerns.
They have called for patience from the agitated staff as management has began procurement processes to acquire new state of the art machines and tools needed at the facility.
It also adds that the refurbishment of the surgical theater has been captured in the hospital's budget for the year 2021 and that will be fixed.
Among other things, they stated that regular meetings will now be carried out to know the concerns of members of staff and urged them to issue their grievances through the proper channels at the facility.
