Kevin-Prince Boateng was on target for Sassuolo in their 3-1 home win over Afriyie Acquah's Empoli in Serie A on Friday.

The visitors took the lead through Francesco Caputo after just 18 seconds at the Mapei Stadium before Boateng levelled the scored 13 minutes later- his third in five matches.

Second half goals from Gian Marco Ferrar and Federico Di Francesco ensured the home team cruised to a comfortable victory.

Fellow Ghana international Alfred Duncan lasted the entire duration for the neroverdi while Acquah wobbled off injured early in the game.

The result moves Sassuolo into second place on the table, two points behind Juventus, who will look to extend their perfect record at Frosinone on Sunday.
