Kidnapped girls still being searched for- Ambrosse Dery

The Minister for the Interior, Ambrosse Dery has said that the girls who have been kidnapped for nearly a year now at Takoradi in the Western Region have not been forgotten and are still being searched for.

Mr Dery added that, the Security Agencies on the issue are working tirelessly to find the girls who have been identified as Ruth Quayson, Priscilla Blessing Bentum and Priscilla Koranchie.

The families of the girls have expressed their worries over the way the Police Service have been slow in their investigations and are even considering taking a law suite against the force.

Speaking to the Press, Mr Dery stated that, the matter is still of critical importance to the security agencies who are doing their best to ensure that the girls are found and reunited with their families.

There has been protests in the region over the issue and the most recent one was done by a group calling itself as  Concerned Mothers Association of Takoradi.

Ghana and security agencies in the United Kingdom and the USA are collaborating to find the kidnapped girls.

Three of the victims were reportedly kidnapped by the main suspect, Samuel Udoetuk Wills, who was arrested earlier this year, 2019.

He is currently in police custody and being tried for breaking out of jail.

He has not also provided the location of the kidnapped girls.

Mr. Dery who has been following the case is optimistic that the police will find the girls alive.

He stated on their state that “On the missing girls, the police are on top of the matter. It will come to a time that as a country we take some decisions as to what we want, our privacy [issues]. We should be able to use technology to track where a person is calling from but are we prepared to give up our privacy?”

“Then we can listen into some of the conversations that will help us arrest the culprits. As a nation, while we are working hard at this, we are bringing in whatever support we can get from outside because we are talking about our girls. They are the future. Yes, it is very painful exercise for us, We are very hopeful that none of them have been killed,” he said.
