King Faisal FC has ended its contract with head coach Barnabas Awuni following a string of underwhelming performances in the ongoing Division One League campaign.
The decision, made by the club's leadership, came after a narrow 1-0 defeat at home to Swedru All Blacks United FC on Saturday.
Awuni, who was elevated to the head coach role after serving as assistant under Ignatius Osei-Fosu, struggled to meet the club's ambitions of securing a top-four spot by the midway point of the season.
Under his tenure, King Faisal managed just 11 points from 10 matches, recording two wins, five draws, and three losses, leaving them 12th in the league standings.
The club described the termination as mutual, emphasizing their disappointment at the failure to meet expectations.
King Faisal is now expected to announce plans for a new head coach as they prepare for their upcoming league fixtures.
