The Ghana United Nations Students and Youth Association (GUNSA) has called for calm in the ongoing misunderstandings at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), which resulted in demonstrations on the university campus on Monday.

Speaking in an interview with Abusua FM in Kumasi, the General Secretary of GUNSA, Mr. Emmanuel J.K Arthur advocated dialogue and peaceful resolution of the issues between the students’ body and the university authorities.

The Association, he said, welcomes the imposition of curfew on campus, saying it will help protect lives and properties and restore sanity.

Mr. Arthur expressed the hope an amicable solution would be arrived at soon for the restoration of academic life.

KNUST students, mainly from the University Hall (Katanga) clashed with university security resulting in widespread vandalisation of university property.
