The Chancellor of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, is scheduled to meet aggrieved parties in the ongoing impasse between government and labour unions at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.

This was necessitated after government and the labour unions continue to clash over the representation on the governing council.

The clash is as a result of  University Teachers Association of Ghana( UTAG) refusal to change its representative on the Council, a move government insists is a breach of the initial agreement between the two entities.

Speaking to Starr News, National President of UTAG Dr. Eric Opoku Mensah expressed hope the Chancellor will help find an amicable solution to the raging issue.

He however noted there is no guarantee that a desired outcome will emerge out of the meeting.

KNUST has been closed down for about 2 weeks following a violent student protest against management of the school.

The new council was scheduled to be constituted by last week Friday, but the impasse has stalled the move.

Meanwhile, the planned reopening of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) today is uncertain following the deadlock.
