English-born Ghanaian footballer Kobbie Mainoo is yet to make a decision regarding his international allegiance according to the Daily Mail , leaving his options open between Ghana and England at the senior level.

Mainoo, a midfielder for Manchester United, is delaying his decision until he is in contention for "competitive caps" with either national team.

Although Mainoo has represented England at the U-17 and U-19 levels, he remains eligible to play for Ghana through his parental heritage, having been born in Stockport.

His standout performances for Manchester United have captured the attention of England manager Gareth Southgate, who is reportedly keen to include him in upcoming friendlies against Brazil and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

This move by England aims to thwart Ghana's interest in the promising talent. Randy Abbey, a member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Executive Council, has expressed the association's desire to collaborate with talented players like Mainoo in the future.

At just 18 years old, Mainoo has already left a mark at the senior level with Manchester United, scoring his debut goal in a 4-2 FA Cup victory over Newport County and later netting a stunning winner in a 4-3 triumph against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
