Editor-In-Chief of the Daily Dispatch newspaper, Ben Ephson, has predicted that it is likely former Mayor of Kumasi, Kojo Bonsu who has just joined the NDC  flagbearership race  will give up the fight at the long run and join the Mahama campaign.

The new entrant to the NDC Presidential race, according Ephson is only gathering votes to shore up Mr Mahama’s bid for the flagbearership slot.

“I’m very sure he[Kojo Bonsu] will in the end say that he’s been around the country, spoken to the people and listened to them and feels Mahama is the choice of the people so he’s joining his campaign to that of the former President’s ticket. I suspect he’ll pull off a surprise and eventually join forces with Mahama”, he said.

Former Mayor of Kumasi, Kojo Bonsu has officially joined the flagbearership race of the opposition National Democratic Congress.

He’d in a letter of intent addressed to the General Secretary of the NDC, said his versatile experience in entrepreneurship and corporate leadership can be harnessed by the party for victory in 2020.

He had earlier informed the Founder of the National Democratic Congress, Flt Lt Jerry John Rawlings, of his intention to contest the flagbearership of the party.

Responding to Bonsu’s declaration, the former President said it was refreshing that someone from the Ashanti Region had decided to join the race.

“Not only is he a leading, active, prominent member of the party, but the very fact that he’s an Ashanti for me is quite refreshing. Some of our narrow-minded colleagues from the past did not handle the Ashanti factor well enough. The Akan speaking areas of Ashanti provided a very dynamic presence during the revolution days,” the former President said.

His announcement brings to Twelve (12) the number of people who have so far expressed interest in leading the party.

The party has scheduled to hold the primaries in December 2018.
