A Deputy General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) , Koku Anyidoho, has said commended President Akufo Addo for assenting the Special Prosecutors Bill.

Mr. Anyidoho commenting on the passage of the law and subsequent presidential assent said the bill is a good one only if the law will deal with criminals from all political and social institutions equally.

Koku Anyidoho further stated that office of the Special Prosecutor will remain law even when the NDC assumes power therefore warning the current government to avoid any political witch hunt which will be reciprocated to them.

He indicated that “Nobody is afraid of anything; if you are given a job to do as a public servant and you decide to go and steal, know that we don’t fear whose ox is gored because wrong is wrong, crime is crime and criminals must be punished”,

“If this law was brought in good faith, we welcome it, if it was brought with ill-motives, however then they should be reminded that when in 2020 they go out of power, we shall use the same law to prosecute them," he noted.

With the President’s assent, all the legal requirements have been completed for the establishment of the Office of the Special Prosecutor.
