Head coach of Kumasi Asante Kotoko Mariano Barreto has been banned for two matches and fined a hefty GHC3,000 by the Ghana Football Association's Disciplinary Committee.

The coach pleaded not guilty to the charges during hearing before the committee stating that his words was misconstrued.

The Portuguese trainer was charged by the Disciplinary Committee for his post match comments after his side played Legon Cities in Accra in the Ghana Premier League on Match Day 22, a game his side won 1-0.

The Kotoko gaffer was charged on two counts of misconduct for claiming his side played 11 against 15 in the game against Legon Cities and also for verbally abusing the match officials without just cause.

He also claimed that referees only make mistakes against Asante Kotoko, a comment which the FA deem to be injurious to the professional running of the game and has a great effect of bringing the game into disrepute.

The coach's comments was in breach of Articles 38(8)(c) and 34(6)(d) of the GFA Premier League Regulations.
