Head coach of Kumasi Asante Kotoko Mariano Barreto has launched a scathing attack on the club as he says they are only big in named and not a big team in the true sense of the word.

The Portuguese trainers says the Ghanaian giants lack the needed infrastructure to be called a big club and only live on past glories.

Under his watch as coach of the club they failed to win the league title as they were beaten to it by Accra Hearts of Oak and also eliminated from the MTN FA Cup at the semi finals stage by Berekum Chelsea.

In an interview with Nhyira FM, Barreto said went berserk and sent his own club to the cleaners .

"I know Asante Kotoko fans won't be happy with this but I must say it," he expressed.

"Asante Kotoko is only a big name and not a not a big team because they lack so things a big team should be having."

"A big team should be having their own physiotherapy room, a strong youth team, philosophy, video room amongst other infrastructure."

He replaced Maxwell Konadu during the second round of the 2020/2021 season after signing an 18 month contract.
