Representative of former Kotoko defender Abdul Ismail Ganiyu, Yussif Alhassan Chibsah says that Asante Kotoko is their first choice as they are waiting for them before embarking on any other move.

The defender's contract at Asante Kotoko has elapsed making him a free agent but the club is yet to open talks about a contract renewal but the agent and his client insist the porcupine warriors are their first choice.

Ganiyu who had an excellent season for Kotoko despite the club ending the season empty handed is awaiting an offer from his former club.

His impressive display earned him a place in the Black Stars set up making him a mainstay in the Black Stars as he was the only Kotoko player invited for next month's World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Ethiopia.

The center back scored five goals for Asante Kotoko in the 2020/2021 campaign before making his debut in Ghana's AFCON qualifier against South Africa in Johannesburg in February this year.

Speaking in an interview with Pure FM, Chibsah  says their doors are open for Kumasi Asante Kotoko as the club has greatly enhanced the career of his client and will give them every opportunity to re-sign the player but they are yet to receive any contact from the club's management member or board.

“Kotoko management or board of directors haven’t contacted me or the player officially for negotiations to have a contract extension. I don’t know why but we hope things will be sorted,” Chibsah told Pure FM.

“We don’t have any problem with anyone at the club so there hasn’t been any negotiations because there was or is a standing issue. Kotoko have given Ganiyu a huge platform to showcase his talent and he appreciates that a lot."

“Therefore, Kotoko is always the priority before any other club so we are still in the waiting period for what offer Kotoko have for him before we can move to the next stage,” he concluded
