Wilberforce Mfum, a former member of the Africa Cup of Nations-winning team in 1963, has raised concerns about the quality of players currently at Asante Kotoko, attributing the team's recent poor performance to Coach Prosper Ogum's recruitment decisions.

Mfum expressed disappointment in Kotoko's recent run of form, which has seen them drop to ninth place in the Ghana Premier League standings.

He criticized Coach Ogum's strategy of signing lower-tier players, suggesting that it has contributed to the team's inability to attract fans to the stadium.

Speaking in an interview with Akoma FM, Mfum questioned the wisdom behind recruiting players from lower divisions when Kotoko needs top-class talent to fill the stadium with supporters.

He expressed dissatisfaction with the current roster and called for Ogum's immediate dismissal.

"If I held any capacity in the team, I wouldn't have agreed to this decision of the IMC," Mfum remarked, highlighting the urgency of the situation.

He questioned the coach's continued tenure despite the team's poor run of results, emphasizing the need for change.

Mfum's comments reflect the growing discontent among Kotoko supporters, who have witnessed the team suffer four consecutive losses in the league, matching a 14-year-old record of futility.

Despite the pressure for Ogum's removal, the club's management has reiterated their confidence in his ability to turn the team's fortunes around.

As Kotoko prepares for their upcoming fixture against Bechem United, the spotlight is on Ogum and his squad to deliver a positive result and regain the trust of fans.
