Asante Kotoko has returned to Ghana following their participation in the Capital City Africa Cup in Washington, but the club is now facing an unexpected issue—two of their Sudanese players, Esmat AbdalHamid Mohamed and Obdoelkarem Yoouef Yagoub, have gone missing.

The players disappeared from the team’s hotel on Friday, October 11, without notifying anyone, and there has been no contact with them since.

Their sudden absence has raised concerns within the club, which has reported the incident to U.S. authorities, seeking assistance to ensure the players' safe return.

In an official statement released on Sunday, the club expressed deep regret over the situation.

"Asante Kotoko SC regrets to inform our supporters and the public that two players, Esmat AbdalHamid Mohamed and Obdoelkarem Yoouef Yagoub, both Sudanese nationals, are currently missing from the camp," the statement read.

Kotoko's trip to the U.S. was already complicated by visa issues, which led to the formation of a mixed team, the Ghana Week DC Select Side, featuring five Kotoko players.

Despite these challenges, the team secured a 2-1 victory against D.C. United.

However, the situation surrounding the missing players has now overshadowed the team's return to Ghana.
