Players of Kumasi Asante Kotoko will return to camp in Kumasi on Thursday as the team gets set to begin preseason with no sight of Portuguese trainer Mariano Barreto.

The Portuguese is unlikely to return to Asante Kotoko after his poor output and his outburst at the club with talks with Prosper Nartey Ogum at an advanced stage.

After a trophy-less campaign where the porcupine warriors missed out on the Ghana Premier League title and the MTN FA Cup, the players have had about two months of rest to recharge their batteries.

Team Manager of the club Henry Ohene Brenya on Tuesday communicated to the players to start camping in Kumasi on Thursday with the date for pre-season to be communicated later on.

The league is expected to start in October If there are no last minute hitches and the first step towards preseason is to start camping.
