The Member of Parliament for Kpandai, Matthew Nyindam, has expressed profound gratitude to God, the Supreme Court, and the people of his constituency following a decisive ruling that reinstated him as MP.

In a 4–1 majority decision, the apex court overturned a High Court judgment that had annulled his election on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). Justice Gabriel Scott Pwamang dissented from the majority ruling.

The Supreme Court acted on an application filed by Mr Nyindam under its supervisory jurisdiction, arguing that the High Court had exceeded its authority in nullifying the parliamentary results.

Agreeing with him, the justices held that the lower court lacked jurisdiction to overturn the election outcome, effectively restoring his mandate and bringing an end to months of legal uncertainty.

Reacting to the judgment, Mr Nyindam described the decision as a victory for democracy and the will of the people of Kpandai.

“I want to thank God for what He has done in my life and to express my gratitude to my lawyers and the Supreme Court judges. There were clear attempts to change the will of the people of Kpandai, but the Supreme Court has affirmed that will, and for that I am most grateful,” he said.

The legislator also commended the leadership of the NPP at the national, regional, and constituency levels for their unwavering support throughout the court process.

He further praised residents of Kpandai for standing by him, noting that celebrations were already underway in the constituency following the ruling.

“The people voted for me to serve them for four years, and I remain fully committed to working diligently in their interest,” he added.

Mr Nyindam also acknowledged the encouragement he received from former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia during the legal battle.

The Supreme Court’s decision clears the way for Mr Nyindam to continue his parliamentary duties without further legal impediments.
