The Kumasi Technical Institute(KTI) has withdrawn from the 2017 super zonal competition due to security reasons.
The decision, according to management is among measures being taken to "bring peace to the school and the community," after a consultation with the PTA and old students of the school.
" In view of the recent incidents after the last Inter Schools and Collages athletics competitions held on 13th and 14th February 2017 it will not be advisable for Kumasi Technical Institute to participate in the upcoming Super Zonal athletics competitions on 23rd and 24th February 2017 at baba Yara Sports Stadium," a statement by the school read.
Over 20 students of the Kumasi Technical Institute were seriously injured after clashing with police personnel in the Ashanti Region last Tuesday.
The violence erupted after some of the students who had gone to participate in a zonal inter-school sports competition at the Baba Yara stadium.
The school authorities have also issued a stern warning to students of the school to stay away from the competition, adding that any student "who goes there with KTI uniform or in the name of KTI do so at his/her own risk."

after the last Inter Schools and Collages athletics competitions held on 13th and 14th February 2017 it will not be advisable for Kumasi Technical Institute to participate in the upcoming Super Zonal athletics competitions on 23rd and 24th February 2017 at baba Yara Sports Stadium.
This decision is part of the measures the management has taking to bring peace to the school and the community.
The management has also not asked any group of people or association to physically assault anybody for the school.Anybody who goes there with KTI uniform or in the name of KTI do so
at his/her own risk.
